It was a night for royalty.
The 2007 Oscars were a fun, uncontroversial event -- the sort that won't leave too many frothing at the mouth.
Here's a look at the evening's big winners:
Best Actor
Forest Whitaker
The Last King Of Scotland
Whitaker was the forerunner in this category, a fact highlighted by his big win at the Golden Globes. The Oscar nod followed, and once Leonardo DiCaprio was not nominated for The Departed, it was clear that Whitaker was the likely winner.
There was some last-minute buzz for Peter O'Toole, given that the actor had never won an Oscar -- and this seemed to be (ask Martin Scorsese) the year for correcting those wrongs. Still, one at a time, and Whitaker won for his mammoth performance as dictator Idi Amin.
