Forget the 'slapping' controversy. Padma Priya has been one of the best known discoveries in Malayalam cinema in recent times.

Last year, she stunned audiences with a deglamourised look in Karutha Pakshikal and won the state award. This year, she was seen in a number of films like Paradesi, Veeralippattu and Time. But it was Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Naalu Pennungal that showcased her real talent. The film had her playing a prostitute who desperately wanted to start her family.

It is her readiness to experiment that makes Padmapriya different from her fellow actresses.
