Welcome, Taare Zameen Par open well

After No Entry, director Anees Bazmee delivers another hit with Welcome. The film takes an excellent initial and continues to do well.

The other release of the week, Taare Zameen Par, had a slow start. But it has gathered momentum, and is on its way to becoming a commercial hit.

Taare Zameen Par

Cast: Aamir Khan, Darsheel Safary, Tisca Chopra.
Director: Aamir Khan.
Terrific performances, a well-directed, sensitive film

Slightly repetitive, disappointing end.

BO Verdict: Slow start, but has hugely picked up.



Cast: Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Feroz Khan, Paresh Rawal, Mallika Sherawat.
Director: Anees Bazmee.
Complete entertainer.

The film starts slowly, with poor jokes.

BO Verdict: Excellent opening.

Good story, adapted from the 1951 classic Strangers On A Train

Slow first half.

Khoya Khoya Chand

Cast: Shiney Ahuja, Soha Ali Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Soniya Jehan.
Director: Sudhir Mishra.
Fantastic cinematography, classic feel of 1950s cinema, good performances from Soniya, Soha

Shiney disappoints, hard-to-relate-with characters.

Number of weeks: 2.
BO Verdict: Flop.


Dus Kahaniyaan

Cast: Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Dino Morea, Dia Mirza, Manoj Bajpai, Amrita Singh, Jimmy Shergill, Masumeh Makhija, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar.
Directors: Hansal Mehta, Rohit Roy, Meghna Gulzar, Apoorva Lakhia, Jasmeet Dhodi and Sanjay Gupta.
Some of the stories are interesting and well-narrated; film holds your interest throughout.

Stories are too short and lack depth.

Number of weeks: 2.
BO Verdict: Flop.


Aaja Nachle

Cast: Madhuri Dixit Nene, Kunal Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ranvir Shorey, Ninay Pathak, Irrfan Khan.
Director: Anil Mehta.
Excellent performance by Madhuri


Number of weeks: 3.
BO Verdict: Flop.


Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal

Cast: John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Bipasha Basu, Boman Irani.
Director: Vivek Agnihotri.
John can juggle a football well.

Full of cliches.

Number of weeks: 4.
BO Verdict: Flop.


Om Shanti Om

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Shreyas Talpade, Arjun Rampal.
Director: Farah Khan.
Masala fare, with plenty of laughs.

Threadbare plot.

Number of weeks: 6.
BO Verdict: Hit.

Great performance by Kareena, good dialogues.

Second half is irrelevant, songs seem out of place.
