Now, Dutt -- already a major star of the times -- was truly striking with his directorial debut. The 1964 Yaadein was an atypical experimental film, starring Dutt himself as the sole character. It was a tremendous acting achievement, and Dutt showed powerful control in his next projects, like Reshma Aur Shera and Daku Aur Jawan.
