He's one of the new Bollywood brigade.
Cinematographer Sachin K Krishn has left his memorable stamp on many a film, like Vishal Bhardwaj's Blue Umbrella. Now comes his latest, Sudhir Mishra's Khoya Khoya Chand.
Raja Sen spoke to Sachin about shooting a film about Bollywood, set 50 years ago. Excerpts:
When a project like KKC came to you, what were your first concerns?
First of all, I got in very, very late. It was a last-minute call. Ideally, I'd have liked to be quite involved in the pre-production, because this was quite a tricky film to shoot -- you know, being about the film industry, and then being a period film. I would have liked to take at least a month to do my research; instead, I was brought on 2 days before the shoot.
Whatever happened was done on the sets, completely spontaneous. What worked in favour of the film actually is that Sudhir and I are both very spontaneous, and so we decided to pull out all the stops.
