'My work will speak for itself'

Manhunt 2003 winner and the heartthrob of modelling arena, Muzamil Ibrahim, is ready for his Bollywood debut with Pooja Bhatt's Dhokha.

Just days away from the release, the 23 year-old chats with Ruchi Naresh about how he will equally triumph in Hindi films. Excerpts:

How did you become a part of Dhokha?

Pooja (Bhatt) got in touch with me for a different project based on a stalker. She wanted me to meet Mr Mahesh Bhatt. In my mind I wanted a bigger challenge for my first film.

Mr Bhatt saw my tape and decided I could be used for a better role. At that point Dhokha was just an idea, but he decided to cast me for the main lead. The character was tailor-written for me. It was magical to see myself in such a role.

What is your role in Dhokha?

I am playing ACP Zaid Ahmed, a very pious, devoted officer and a patriotic citizen. He is caught in midst of communal hatred, but speaks for the voice of modern Indian which condemns revenge as a way to deal with justice. He stands bravely against all odds with his words and actions.
