Bhoomika did not have to prepare much for her role as the director had done ample research on her character as well as other roles.
"The director had met Tusshar Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi's great grandson) and did a lot of homework on my character. He explained that to me so I really did not have to prepare. I was under the director's charge, so the entire credit goes to him," she said.
"To play a historical character far removed from today's times is challenging and different as people don't know much about the character," she added.
As far as acting goes, Bhoomika says, "Darshan Jariwala (who played Gandhi) has done a great job, Shefali is a fabulous actress and Akshaye Khanna's performance is par excellence."
"On the sets, it was great work. But off the sets, it was great fun. There were some cute moments. Darshan was asked to do yoga every day while I happily ate parathas. He would crib about that, as he had to watch what he ate.
"Shefali and I would chill together. She is a nice person with a pure heart and is full of energy. She reminds me of my sister.
"This film deals with the truth and it was a learning lesson for me. I came to know more about Harilal Gandhi, his wife and family. I am happy to have been part of this film."
Gandhi My Father has been shot in Johannesburg (South Africa), Bhor, Ahmedabad and Delhi.
