Saas-bahu dandiya nights

September 26, 2006
Stageshows have always been a major grosser for showbiz celebrities.

Be it a singer or a superstar, a stage show always brings in extra income.

The saas-bahu serials seem to have opened that door for telestars as well.

Today they can charge a stiff fee -- anywhere apparently from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakhs, sources say -- for stage appearances at Navratri shows.

rediff.com spoke to some of India's most popular telly stars to find out where they will be during Navratri. Most of them are completely hemmed in by their shooting schedules -- they work 16 to 17 hours a day -- but will spare an evening or two to make appearances.

Manasi Parekh

I have a very tight shooting schedule for India Calling, but still, I will be going to Aurangabad for a day this week to attend Navratri celebrations. But I will not be participating in the dance shows. I will just be a guest in the function.

I have a number of ghagra cholis in my personal collection, but this year I have been so busy that I have not got the time to check if they still fit me!
