Veteran actor and producer Balaji -- now better known as Mohanlal's father-in-law -- was among the leading producers of Tamil films under the Sujatha Cine Arts banner some years ago. After ill health forced him to stop making films, his son Suresh Balaji tried restarting the banner. His efforts weren't very successful, although he was actively involved in the production
of quite a few Hindi films, the latest being Priyadarshan's Malamaal Weekly.
Now, Suresh Balaji has decided to revive Sujatha Cine Arts by producing a Tamil film. "There was a desire in me to revive the banner for a long time," he says, "but my father didn't favour producing Tamil films. Now, everything has fallen into place. We have a good story, a good actor and a young, competent director."
