Bala's Naan Kadavul kicks off
September 12, 2006
His Pitamahan was about a gravedigger who guarded a graveyard. Vikram won the National Award for his role as the gravedigger, although he had no dialogues
in the film. Surya, as Vikram's garrulous friend, was also a revelation. Vikram's struggling days as an actor ended earlier, with Bala's first film Sethu.
Whether it is Sethu, Pitamahan or Nanda, Bala has the ability to create strong, powerful characters and elicit wonderful performances from his lead players. Where would Vikram have been if Sethu or Pitamahan hadn't happened?
