The week-long effort is part of an ambitious project called 'indiaBUILDS', conducted by the international NGO Habitat For Humanity (HFH). It aims to build 50,000 houses across India to rehabilitate lower income people who are living in dilapidated houses. The Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP) 2006 is its first grand event. Carter and his wife Rosalyn have been part of rehabilitation work in India through HFH since 1984.
As for Brad Pitt, who did not speak to the media, the actor was as involved as the other volunteers, listening to instructions and working.
