Kangna: Life after Gangster
When I arrived in Mumbai, I met many directors, one of whom was Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He told me he would call when he had a role for me. Within 15 days of that meeting, Anurag Basu saw me at a coffee shop. He called me for a screen test, which I passed.
Anurag deserves his success. Despite being ill (diagnosed with cancer), he never cancelled a shoot. He is a very strong man. I don't think anybody could carry on under the circumstances we worked in.
I didn't have to do any homework for my character. Anurag wanted me to be spontaneous. If the director is good and clear in his vision, it becomes simple for everyone.
What I don't like about Hindi movies is that just because one genre of films works, everyone wants to make the same kind of films. If kissing works in one film, all the others start having kissing scenes. There few people who are good filmmakers, which is why I admire Anurag.
