The first time I met Vikram was immediately after
Sethu became a success. He was living in a rented flat, listening to umpteen scripts but taking his time to sign a film. But he was very excited.
Six years have passed. He has moved from the small flat and is no longer the same Vikram. He is now Vikram, superstar of Tamil cinema, the man who has taken over the mantle from both Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth.
Although we had spoken quite a few times over the phone, a meeting hadn't taken place even when he won the National Award for his performance in Pitamahan. He was right on time and ready to spend as much time as I needed, patiently answering my questions. As he spoke, our photographer tried to capture the expressions that went through his highly emotive face. Read on.
