Telly marriages seem to be becoming a trend nowadays. After Shanno got married in Shanno Ki Shaadi, we have two more weddings coming up.
And each is more elaborate than the other. Diamond necklaces, expensive saris, and all the wedding rituals, including sangeet, form a big part of these telly weddings.
rediff.com takes a look at two important weddings coming up: Ananya (Kanchi Kaul) and Nikhil (Shakti Anand) in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, and Chandni (Mansi Parekh) and Adi (Vipul Gupta) in India Calling.
Ek Ladki Anjaani Si
It will be at least a week-long celebration, on television, for Ananya and Nikhil's marriage. It started off with the couple visiting Mumbai's famous Siddhi Vinayak temple, early one morning to avoid the crowd. A priest conducted an elaborate puja for the bridal couple.
After the puja, the couple went shopping for their wedding. Nikhil selected a dazzling and very expensive looking diamond necklace for his onscreen bride, from a famous jewellery shop in Bandra.
The sangeet followed. Not only did we see a very lifelike sangeet ceremony, it was also well-attended by stars like Shilpa Saklani and her husband Apoorva Agnihotri. Other characters from popular Sony soaps like Vaidehi and Kabhie To Nazar Milao attended the do.
Noted designer Ritu Kumar designed the Ananyaï's dresses for the mehndi ceremony and the wedding.
The difference between where the reel life ends and real life begins seem to be getting narrower by the day!
The special wedding episode stars today at 8:30 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
