Aishwarya Rai has been part of Cannes since 2002, when her film Devdas was screened there. The following years saw her either as part of the jury or the glitterati.
This year, her film Provoked will premiere there. Directed by Jagmohan Mundra (Bawandar), it is a true story about a Punjabi woman who settles down in London after marriage, is badly abused and ends up murdering her husband.
It remains to be seen whether her film will win her the Cannes brownie points that her outfits previously missed.
