As far as Tamil films are concerned, this New Year will be one of the dullest. No, not because there are no interesting films, but because people are more excited about the Assembly Elections. As campaigning for the elections gets into top gear, films have taken a back seat.
Here are this year's most-anticipated releases:
Tirupathi
Now that Kamal Haasan's Gowtham Menon-directed Vettayadu Vilaydu is not hitting theatres on April 14, this Ajit starrer is the hottest New Year release. It is Perarasu's third film, coming after the unprecedented success of Thirupachi and Sivakasi. Both were typical masala films and Tirupathi falls into the same genre.
Paramasivan was Ajit's comeback film after a long string of flops. Tirupathi follows Paramasivan and everyone is eager to see how it fares at the box office. After Rajnikanth, Ajit is called the 'king of openings' but, the question is, will he be able to sustain the momentum?
Produced by AVM, Tirupathi will be out a day before the New Year - April 13.
