Before I met Ram Gopal Verma, I was trying to get into films. I am from Panipat, Haryana, but I spent most of my time in Delhi. I came to Mumbai when I was 19. Mumbai just struck me, especially its glamour, and I didn't go back.

I have done my B Com. I was not sure what I wanted in life. I didn't take permission from my parents to join films. I wanted to become an actor for the glamour. I was very fat, 127 kg. I saw Salman (Khan) in Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and I wanted to be like him. I was 77 kg in three months!

I worked really hard. In the beginning, I went on crash dieting, but due to that I started getting black-outs. Suddenly, I realised I was going on the wrong track. I was becoming very weak, then I started pumping (weights). To become an actor, you have to look good.
