George Lazenby
In 1969, Lazenby was announced as 007 in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. This was a bewildering choice, considering George's acting credits were minimal at the time, his only film appearance being in a 1965 Italian-made Bond spoof.
But legendary producer Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli thought he 'looked like a Bond', and kept him in mind.
Lazenby tried hard to get into the shoes Connery left behind -- literally! His preparations for the Bond role included suits made to order by Connery's tailor.
Finally, weary of the 14-page Bond contract, Lazenby quit the role right before the premiere. Bond purists agree that was a really fortunate move.
