Jodie's Flightplan continues to soar

For over a decade, maverick Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg has been making films that generated a cult following in America but were seldom moneymakers. Many viewers found his festival-sweeping films too complicated and dense.

Now, for the first time in his career, Cronenberg has made a film that has pleased both the audiences and the critics. A Cannes hit, A History Of Violence, is currently No 4 on the US charts. Its $8 million gross is significant since the film has released in just about 1,300 theaters, while many of the top films are playing in over 3,000 theatres each.
