Acting comes as naturally to her as breathing, says Rituparna Sengupta, the reigning queen of Tollywood, as the Bengali film industry is called.

The actress, who is a trained Odissi dancer, makes her entry into Bollywood with this Friday's release, Mein, Meri Patni Aur Woh. The film is directed by Chandan Arora (Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon) and also stars Rajpal Yadav.

Rituparna spoke to Indrani Roy Mitra about her first Hindi film and more.

Are you seeking variety here in Mumbai after dominating the Bengali film industry?

Chandan's film is exactly what I seek as an actress. Mein, Meri... not only offers me a meaty role but also leaves me a lot of scope to perform. I consider it sheer luck to have got a chance to work with Chandan.

I was very impressed with his earlier film, Mein Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, in 2003.

I thought Mein, Meri... will be the right film for my sensitive self. It is about a couple whose peace is threatened by the arrival of 'another' man. Taken by the film's simple story, sensible screenplay and capable direction, I have every reason to feel it will strike the right chord with the audience.
