This seems to be the year of absolute overambition. After Ram Gopal Varma, fine crafter of underworld cinema, ludicrously announced a remake of Sholay, a slew of prominent directors have followed suit.

Farhan Dil Chahta Hai Akhtar (inset) plans to start shooting his take on Chander Barot's 1978 Don in January. Co-written by father Javed Akhtar (with Salim Khan), Farhan reportedly feels that the film, while a classic, didn't quite do justice to the script.

His film, which will also feature a Khaike paan Banaras wala version, will be Farhan's modern day interpretation of the iconic seventies Amitabh Bachchan film.
