Nandita Das has a big job at the 58th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
She is one of the nine members of the jury that will choose the film to win the top prize at the festival: the Palme d'Or.
This year has 21 feature films in the running for the award.
Nandita is the second Indian actor -- after Aishwarya Rai, who inaugurated the festival on Wednesday -- to serve as a jury member at Cannes.
Ash, who was on the jury in 2003, wore a black cocktail dress this year with a back that dipped to her waist. Nandita went Indian, in a red sari, gold jewellery and flowers in her hair, neatly contained in a bun.
