Come May 13, 2005, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge will complete 500 weeks.

And create Indian cinema history.

The film that was released on October 25, 1995, has made it to the record books by becoming the first Hindi film to have such a long unbroken run. It is still playing at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai.

"After it completed 400 weeks, we thought the film will not run further, but now I think it will complete 600 weeks too because we are still getting 60 percent occupancy of seats for every matinee show. The theatre runs house-full shows on weekends and public holidays," says Pravin V Rane, manager, Maratha Mandir.

When you compare DDLJ with current releases, it is doing exceedingly well.
