John Mathew Matthan scored a hit with his first film, Sarfarosh, starring Aamir Khan. One would have expected John to jump into his next venture immediately.

He did try. He asked Aamir to star in his next film, but the actor dilly-dallied, and finally John got the hint.

Six years after Sarfarosh, he has started on his new venture.

Yet untitled, it stars Ajay Devgan, Shahid Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Amrita Rao.

Quiz John about it, and he'll answer vaguely. "It's about a boy (Shahid) just out of college, who discovers life in a short span of time. It's about his experiences, values etc. Ajay plays his friend. He's a mature person who has seen the world. The film is basically about the difference in their perspectives of life."

The family entertainer will costs about Rs 17 crores (Rs 170 million).

Viju Shah has arranged the music, but it has been composed by John's "team of musicians."

The film will be shot in Thailand, Goa and in and around Mumbai. Shooting will end in June, and John hopes for a September-October release.
