The duo joined Universal Music after their ad film together, but were soon bored with the repetitive kind of music being churned out by the industry.

They floated the novel idea of 'remix' songs and directed the Sehri babu remix from the film, Loafer.

Their next album was Kinna Sonna with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, followed by Tu tu hai yahin with actress Ayesha Takia. All went on to become big hits.

In 2002, they quit Universal and launched Rao And Sapru Films Private Limited. They produced the biggest remix hit, Kaanta laga, and the album made them hot properties in showbiz.

"We realised we need to grow beyond remixes," says Vinay.

Adds Radhika, "We started writing a script knowing we would like to direct a film some day."

Though they had no producer and no past experience making movies, they were sure about one thing -- it had to star Salman Khan.
