What was the selection process like?

The judges selected good voices at the first audition. That is how they selected 129 participants from 40,000 all over India.

We were put up at Mumbai's Tulip Star Hotel for seven days. We couldn't leave as our schedule was very tight. We had to wake up at 5 am and reach the venue by 7 am. We had a three-day schedule, where we had to perform either solo or duet.

At the end of that, 30 qualified.

The selections continued and I was among the top 11 contestants. I was dropped on January 7.

Since when did you want to sing?

I started singing in school. My father sings very well, and I inherited the talent from him. He motivated me and told me to take it up seriously.

Music cannot be a hobby. It is God's gift and we should cherish it.

The participants are God's blessed children, so we must make good use out of it. That's why I selected singing as a career. Now, I will sing professionally.

I sang for Star's SA Re Ga Ma Pa earlier. I have done the Sangeet Prabhakar course, which is a six-year course and is equivalent to a BA in music.
