With the coming of Shah Rukh Khan's lovable ghost in Paheli, it's a good time to revisit movie spooks we've enjoyed laughing with.
Here's a selection of Hollywood's most memorable good ghosts:
10. Casper
You just can't skip this 1995 forgettable Brad Silberling hit in which Casper, comicdom's friendly ghost, flitted merrily to and fro. My personal highlight from this saccharine-and-CGI joyride is when Casper's uncles burst into the kitchen, swirling like helicopters as Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries plays in the background. The more irritating of the ghosts, Stretch, later says, "I love the smell of fleshies in the morning" – thus wonderfully completing the ingenuous reference to the 1979 Francis Ford Coppola film Apocalypse Now, where Robert Duvall said, "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."
