I was studying and didn't even know if I wanted to do films. I was concentrating on an academic career then, and modelling on the side. I completed my English Honours from the University of Delhi last year.

Modelling was not a stepping stone to films for me. Yahaan just fell in my lap.

I took up this film because the script was excellent. My role was intended for a seasoned actress. For a newcomer to get this role was a dream come true.

We did some acting workshops with N K Sharma from the Act One theatre group in Delhi. Acting is not easy at all. Every time there was a tough scene, I would get nervous. Even if there were a tough scene on the last day of the shoot, I would have butterflies in my stomach.

One has to be completely unselfconscious about your surroundings. In real life, we are so guarded with our emotions. But when you are acting and emoting, you have to be open about your feelings and vulnerability. Opening up was very difficult for me.
