The Oscars are almost here, and these are the films in the running for the big award.

Predictably, the Academy continues its fascination for biopics, with three films being about real people – J M Barrie, creator of Peter Pan (Finding Neverland), Howard Hughes, aviation pioneer and movie playboy (The Aviator), and Ray Charles, blues and soul music maestro (Ray).

Among the other two films, one is about two friends introspecting through wine and women (Sideways), and then there's what can essentially be summed up as Rocky, in drag (Million Dollar Baby).
