Kalpana Lajmi's thought-provoking films have always starred women in lead roles. There's Rudaali (Dimple Kapadia and Raakhi), for instance, Darmiyaan (Kiron Kher) and Daman (Raveena Tandon).
Now, she's back with the promising Chingari, starring Sushmita Sen. The film tells the tale of a prostitute called Basanti (played by Sen) and her affair with a postman (Anuj Sawhney), who's younger than her.
