It has been a very good year for Malayalam cinema, both commercially and artistically, although artistic creations were few.
Our first vote goes to Thanmatra, directed by Blessy.
Blessy arrived a year go, with the excellent Kazhcha. He gave us an even better film this year. If Kazhcha was about a small orphan from Gujarat straying into a village in Kerala after the earthquake, Thanmatra is about the dreams and aspirations of an ordinary employee in the State Secretariat.
If he extracted great performances from Mammootty and Padmapriya in his first film, the performances of Mohanlal, Meera Vasudevan and the two children in Thanmatra were even better. An extraordinary attempt.
