What if she is Southern Spice Music's young and vivacious VJ? Shriya Reddy, daughter of the former wicket keeper of India, Bharat Reddy and an actress making waves in the industry, looks too sober for her television image.

Tracing her home in Chennai will never be difficult. All you need to know is her neighbours names -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr J Jayalalithaa and Tamil superstar Rajnikanth. Intrigued? Read on for excerpts from an interesting chat with the young actress.

It is generally seen that children of sportspersons tend to become sportspersons. But in your case, you chose a profession entirely different.

As a child, I was very interested in sports and was an athlete till 16. I used to represent school at the state level. Had I been a boy, I would have played cricket. I love the game so much I would leave a movie to watch it.

Why did not you choose cricket as a profession?

Women cricketers are not respected as much as their male counterparts. I am not interested in women's cricket. I watch only men's cricket. Sport ranks high on my priority list. Which is why I look up to my father.

When I was in school, the other girls used to say, you better be Shriya Reddy's best friend! Kapil Dev, Jadeja et al come to her house!
