No Man's Land
(2001)
Let's be honest, most of us Indian fans only got around to watching Danis Tanovic's complex and funny war portrayal simply because it pipped Lagaan at the Oscars, winning deservedly for Best Foreign Film.
The film is about a Bosnian and a Serb, caught between home and Herzegovina. Caught in a mad rampage of shelling and darkness, the dynamic between the sworn enemies oscillates through a stupendous range of emotions.
An unpredictably realistic satire.
