When it comes to war films, fans have their own range of favourites. With not much to separate the great from the sublime, any attempt to rate the greatest war flicks of all time is bound to be ridden with enough holes as a bren-gun struck corpse.
Still, like Oskar Schindler, some of us do have a predilection for making lists, no matter how impossible.
So here goes: ten cinematic gems, each worthy of braving a minefield or two.

p.s. - Before the outrage begins, I didn't forget Battleship Potemkin, but it's just that some films are too good to stand beside others.
