It is close to 2 pm but the shot is not ready. One can sense the excitement in the air -- Ekta Kapoor is on her way to take part in the celebrations. That is the sole difference from a normal day of shooting.
The first one to arrive on the sets is the bubbly Shilpa Sakhlani (Ganga, centre). Popularly known as Ganges (no points for guessing why!) among a number of journalists, she is quite different in real life from her goody-two-shoes character in the serial.
"I am three years old in Kyunki…! When I was first offered the role, I was not sure whether my character would last long enough. It feels really good to give an interview on the occasion of the 1,000th episode of the serial," she says.

"I am comfortable with the 20-year leap in the serial. I play the mother of two sons! And interestingly, one of my sons in reel life is four years older to me in real life!"
Shilpa adds that she is sister to the entire unit, but her best friend is Reeva Babbar (Damini, left). "In fact, we are so close to each other that unit members call us Monglu and Changlu!" she exclaims.
The best friends seem to be close to Kamalika Guha Thakurta (right), who plays Gayatri chachi in the serial.
