What promised to be a hatke affair boiled down to one of those usual music launches, courtesy the skies which opened up at Mumbai's Gateway of India just when director Ashutosh Gowariker screened the songs from his new film, Swades for the media on September 25.
The Lagaan director (seen here with his crew) decided the affair needed to be shifted to The Hilton Towers, lest the media get drenched. "As it is, we have our cocktails and dinner slated at the Hilton. So why not go immediately and continue seeing the songs there itself?" he asked.
Gowariker screened five of the film's seven songs and settled down on the dais for a volley of questions, with composer A R Rahman and lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Shah Rukh Khan, who stars in the film, could not attend the event, as he was busy with his concerts abroad.
But the superstar sent a video clip: "I am very sorry, friends. I am tied up with certain commitments here. I wish Ashutosh the very best. He has made a very sincere film. A R Rahman has scaled newer heights. My favourite song is Yun hi chala chal."
