Morning Raga is a simple film, about the synthesis between different worlds. It's about the meeting of different moulds of music: Western and Carnatic. The narrative brings together the modern and traditional, young and the old, rural and urban.

The film brings together Shabana Azmi and Perizaad Zorabian, standing for different times, and kinds, of cinema.

Prakash Rao, a debutant in mainstream Indian cinema, is metaphorically the bridge between the two.

Morning Raga is written and directed by playwright Mahesh Dattani.

The idyllic, little-seen Andhra countryside -- lush paddy fields, unique architecture, Tanjore paintings, Carnatic music -- conjures up a culturally true ambience in the movie.

Morning Raga will release on October 29.

Design: Uday Kuckian
