Was her positive role in response to her negative turn in Fida, which flopped? "It is not like that," says Kareena. "There is a dialogue in Aitraaz: 'If there is a bad omen on a husband, it is only his wife who can save him!' I think every Indian wife will clap on hearing this dialogue."

"Not many people at the age of 23, like me, have the guts to do this kind of role. It is only me who can do a role of a prostitute (Chameli) and that of a wife in such a short span of my career."

She further adds, "The directors Abbas-Mastan offered me both roles and asked me to choose. I picked the wife's character because people's outlook towards me will change after seeing this film. I believe in that role! If a husband is innocent, his wife will stand by him, especially in our country."
