Come November 12, and Priyanka Chopra will be seen in a negative role for the first time. Recently, the voluptuous damsel has generated a lot of publicity -- but for the wrong reasons.

Vickey Lalwani caught up with her on the sets of Suneel Darshan's Barsaat (also starring Bobby Deol and Bipasha Basu). Here are some excerpts from their conversation:

Let's start with Aitraaz, which is virtually knocking at the door. How did you agree to play a negative role?

(Laughs) Frankly, I was very apprehensive whether I should accept this role or not. But (directors) Abbas-Mastan and Subhash Ghai (the film's producer) were adamant that I should do it. They were convinced that I could carry it off very well.

Could you elaborate on your character?

I play Sonia who is a charming and focused complainant. Her philosophy is that she has to achieve her goals at any cost. She utterly destroys Raj's (Akshay Kumar) world. She knows

one thing: that nothing can come in between her desires and herself.

Sonia is in love with Raj, but she doesn't want marriage so early in her life; she is just 22 and ambitious. When Raj realises that Sonia doesn't want to settle down into matrimony, he moves on to marry Priya (Kareena Kapoor). A few years down the line, Sonia bumps into Raj... (laughs) and makes life hell for him.
