Sanju’s picture is my all-time favourite. This is the picture responsible for my career and for me being here today.

I was to go for an outdoor shooting of Aatish, my first film assignment, because [director Sanjay] Gupta was a friend of my brother’s. He [Gupta] knew I was training to become a photographer. Aatish was our first film.

We were in Mauritius. One Sunday morning, we -- Sanjay Dutt, Gupta, Atul Agnihotri, Raveena Tandon and Kumar Gaurav -- were to go fishing. This had nothing to do with the shooting. I was not going to take my camera along because it was brand new. I was afraid it would get wet. Besides, sea water is the camera’s biggest enemy.

But Sanju insisted we take my camera. I didn’t think Sanju would remember the next day but the first thing he asked me was where the camera bag was.

He caught a huge tuna fish and was tugging it and rolling the rod. I was on a higher level on the boat and I just kept clicking. This picture was the last one on the roll.

It was my first published and appreciated photograph. It was used for the publicity of Aatish. This was my big break. It fetched me more film offers.
