Enrique Iglesias was born in Madrid, Spain, on May 8, 1975. His parents, superstar singer Julio Iglesias and model Isabel Preysler, separated when he was three. Five years later he moved to Miami to live with his father. He attended business school at the University of Miami but dropped out after a year to pursue a career in entertainment.

In 1995, promoting himself as Enrique Martinez from Central America, he recorded his first album in Spanish. Many expected him to fade into his father’s gigantic shadow but his first album Enrique Iglesias established him as a rising star.

He once said, 'When I have children, I'll leave work to one side for a while -- something my father never did.'
