Last week's releases did not seem to go down well with audiences.

The Shiv Sena strongly objected to Karan Razdan's Girlfriend, which had a lesbian theme, by tearing down film posters and staging demonstrations in Mumbai. Certain theatres even had to cancel their shows due to their violent stand. Protests were also seen in Varanasi and Delhi.

The other release of the week, Govind Nihalani's Dev, prompted Rajkot resident Sandeep Chandrasinh Revre to file a case against the director saying the film may spark communal riots.
