There is always curiosity in Tamil Nadu about any film Kamal Haasan makes, whether it is Apoorva Sahodarangal or Aalavandhan or Marudanayakam or Anbe Sivam.

Sandiyar rechristened as Virumaandi is also no different.

Kamal Haasan started shooting the film last April in Madurai in front of a crowd of over one lakh people. Soon, he had to stop shooting due to objections from a political party. The actor-producer was forced to change the title of the film from Sandiyar to Virumaandi. He was also forced to shift the venue of shooting from Madurai to Chennai.

This is one film of Kamal which was made against all odds. Finally, he has made it, and the film is going to be released on January 15.
