I have known Tabu for some time. Her cousin is a friend of mine.

The first day at the photoshoot was funny. She knew the actor was a Kunal but didn't know that it was her cousin's friend. She didn't know I wanted to be an actor.

I was sitting with Husainsaab. When she saw me, she asked me if I was an assistant on the film. I told her I was acting with her.

She went into deep shock and exclaimed, "You? You're my actor!"

Tabu has been very supportive. She gets things right easily because she is a very good actress, spontaneous and experienced. I took longer because it was my first film. But she never complained.

I asked her for tips but she told me it was very difficult for her to give advice. She said acting was a spiritual experience for her. It was not something technical that she could put into words. But sometimes, she did tell me how to say my lines. There were times when she would like to keep to herself. But there was never any attitude or tantrums. I don't think she believes herself to be superior.

We did not become great friends during the shooting, but we have had some interesting conversations between shots. I remember this scene in Jaisalmer which we shot early morning. It was to be done in the swimming pool of the hotel we were staying in.

The water was very cold. Tabu got in before me and shivered. I thought a few laps would solve the problem. Besides, she is an actress. She must have done it before so she should be used to it.

Twenty minutes later, I joined her. By then she had warmed up but I was shivering crazily. I did some laps, yet it did not help. The scene required me to kiss her on the neck. But every time I went close to her, I would shiver. Finally, they had to put these lights on me to warm me.
