This is a movie about love, faith, hope and forgiveness. He died for all mankind. He suffered for all of us. It's time to get back to that basic message,' Hollywood superstar Mel Gibson told a web site.

Twenty-four hours from now, his second directorial venture -- after the Oscar-winning Braveheart -- The Passion Of The Christ, will be thrown open to the public.

The movie details the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ's life.

Starring James Caviezel, Maia Morgenstern and Monica Belucci, The Passion Of The Christ is one of the most controversial movies of our time.

There is great apprehension whether the Latin and Aramaic language film is too violent, especially the fact that the role of the Jews in Jesus' death could blow up into renewed anti-Semitism.
