As a producer, I choose films depending on how different they are from what I have already done," says Shetty. "If it is a good script, then the director will always be excited about it. The script is what will carry the film, and it is the director who can give meaning to it."
"Earlier, I produced a romantic film, Khel. Now, I am producing a thriller. Next, we will look for a comedy or a young romantic film. I will decide depending on the director and the script. The stars take second place. We keep trying different subjects wondering what will click."
Shetty believes just because he is also in the business of running restaurants [Mischief, Suzie Wong in Mumbai], boutiques [Mischief, also in Mumbai] and water sports [H2O], he is not spreading himself thin.

"It is all about time and resource management," he reasons. "I have a great team. If you are dedicated and you know how to manage your time, then all is well. It is successful, so why should I feel that I am spreading myself thin?
