Besides Shetty, Rakht stars Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Dino Morea, Amrita Arora, Neha Dhupia and Abhishek Bachchan in a cameo.

"We have used many stars," says Shetty. "It is a thriller and moves very fast. When you use stars, the recall value is high. People remember [the star] who did the role easily. It is important that people remember who did what in a film. That is why we have chosen so many stars."

"It is not a regular script. It will hold the audience's attention throughout. The film is about predicting the future, about tarot cards. The script and performances are its USP."

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, Rakht is apparently inspired by Hollywood's The Gift. Bipasha plays a tarot card reader, who has the gift of seeing the future. Shetty plays her love interest.

Bipasha uses her gift to help Dutt, when his fiancée Amrita Arora vanishes mysteriously, and Neha Dhupia, who seeks help from her violent husband Dino Morea.
