No bailout: Markets crash across the world

September 30, 2008

With the US House of Representatives rejecting the $700 billion emergency rescue package intended to bail out bankrupt American financial institutions, markets across the world went into a freefall.

The Dow lost 778 points, its largest single-day fall in history, to 10365 points. The Nasdaq declined 200 points to 1984 points.
