Even as this led to major embarrassment for McCain and the Republicans, it gave fodder to Obama's spokesman Tommy Vietor who pounced on the opportunity. Vietor asked if McCain's own economic advisor did not think he was capable of running a corporation, how would he be able to run the world's biggest economy as it flounders in the middle of its worst ever financial crisis.
It might seem that Fiorina's middle name is controversy. A few days ago, while on the McCain campaign trail, she blasted US news organisations for their 'harsh' and 'sexist' coverage on Sarah Palin.
Even while she was at the helm of affairs at Hewlett-Packard, she was surrounded by controversy. She joined HP after quitting Lucent Technologies in 1999. After leading HP for almost seven years, she was fired in 2005. That her severance package was of a whopping $21 million didn't hurt.
