Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal on Thursday discussed the issue of staff lay-off with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray and assured him that he will look into their demands.
"In a telephonic conversation with Thackeray, Goyal assured him of looking into our demands," an MNS leader told
PTI.
Goyal will also be meeting the MNS chief shortly, he said. Earlier, an MNS delegation met Jet airway officials this morning at the airline headquarters in Andheri and demanded reinstatement of all the retrenched employees.
The private airline on Wednesday axed more than 1,900 employees, mostly cabin crew. The move is expected to result in savings of $1 million a month.
Raj Thackeray had threatened on Wednesday that no Jet Airways flight would be allowed to take off from Mumbai if the airline does not reconsider its decision to terminate the services of 850 flight attendants. Read on. . .
